Capitol Hill Elegant Victorian

Beauty, form, and function.

The dappled late afternoon sunlight in this photo doesn't do this beautiful home (or our paint job) justice!

Client: Robert H.

City: Seattle

Neighborhood: Capitol Hill

Date Completed: September 2008

Date of photo: October, 2009

Methods: This house is a wonderful example of how much money can be saved when prep work is minimal. A classic¬†Victorian-style house like this allowed to decay could easily require in excess of $100,000 to restore. In this case, our client had maintained the property very well, meaning that we were given a rare opportunity to spend our time painting (instead of scraping and sanding). There are no words to explain the gratitude painters feel for clients like this! We essentially only had to clean the existing paint, prep a number of isolated areas that were a little worse for wear, and paint a lot of really fun, highly-detailed decorative architectural features in a well-chosen five-tone color scheme. The final bill for this paint job was less than $8,000. ¬†In one of Seattle’s historic neighborhoods, where every property is a little piece of history, to get away with a repaint for less than $20,000 is a testament to the diligence of the homeowner’s maintenance of their property more than it is proof that they got a great deal on a paint job. . . in this case, both apply.

Client testimonial: The team was great and very conscientious.
