Ballard “Icicle” craftsman Geoff & his crew did an excellent job. Their prep work was very thorough, their painting very good. They also did a great job repairing some rotten woodwork and installing bird spikes on the knee braces to keep the pigeons away. They vacuumed daily when they were scraping & sanding the old paint off. What I appreciated most was being able to talk to Geoff & his staff whenever I needed to, their asking me what I wanted as questions came up, & Geoff's commitment to completing the job to my satisfaction. I also appreciated their taking off their shoes when they came in the house. The crew was very courteous.

Bryant Cape Cod Bungalow Absolutely wonderful. First, I must say that my house is a rental & I don't live in Seattle, I live across the country! Geoff & Gary get an A++ in professionalism, responsive communication & attention to detail. The estimate they sent me was thorough & detailed what needed to be done. They even gave me options, depending on what I wanted to spend! They communicated with me by email & phone during the project. I should also say, that they were very respectful of my renter & communicated & coordinated with her schedule. During the project, they discovered that some additional work was needed. They helped to coordinate that! I definitely plan to use them again when the interior has to be done. I can't thank them enough for their fine work!  - Margo R.

Cottage Lake Neo-Colonial The guys did a wonderful job, offering meticulous attention to detail. They were prompt, courteous and polite. And, we especially appreciated how they cleaned up each night before they went home. Overall it was a very good experience and we would not hesitate to recommend them or use them again ourselves.  -Mark E.

Queen Anne Mission Revival Excellent -- it was perhaps the best experience we've ever had with tradespeople of any kind. The crew was punctual, professional, and just plain nice. A very pleasant experience. And the house looks great!

West Queen Anne Warren Pollock Contemporary >Step Up Painting was one of 4 bidders. Gary was prompt, courteous and provided detailed description of the proposed job. We selected Step Up not only because they were the low bid but because they were the most knowledgeable about the type of product that would be compatible with the original finish. When we notified Gary that they were selected he gave an estimated start date which they met. He estimated 10 days to complete the work and finished in 9. Gary helped with the color selection and mixed and painted color samples to assist us in the selection. The paint crew headed up by Jason was prompt courteous and cleaned up daily. Upon completion they promptly returned to attend to a minor punch list. I would without reservation use Step Up again." - Carmine B.

View Ridge Ranch Style Bungalow Geoff and his crew performed professionally and as promised. They demonstrated a commitment to quality and to my satisfaction as their customer. I intend to use them for future painting projects.

Green Lake Tudor Revival StepUp did a great job for us. Their people are very responsive to questions and requests. We were so pleased, and our house looks wonderful.  Jill L

Loyal Heights Cool Craftsman They did a fantastic job. They were very helpful and called me everyday. The guy who was managing the project was amazing. They cleaned up everyday when they finished. I was very happy with the whole project and it came out really well. They were a little on the high end, but it was worth it.

Ravenna Cottage Tudor The experience with Step Up went well. The crew showed up on time and was polite and hard working. The job was delayed by one day when the crew realized the paint color was not quite right, however they got the correct color paint and finished the job. The final bill matched the estimate. Gary even came out the day after the crew finished to fix a window that was having trouble closing. I would recommend Step Up to my friends.

Wedgewood Monotone Craftsman The owner and workers were very professional, skilled at their work, conscientious about doing a good job, responsive to every request, polite, and friendly. They did extensive prep work on the house, which it needed, without cutting any corners. They paid attention to details and did a beautiful finish coat. They came and completed the work on schedule, cleaned up well at the end of every day, and made sure everything was finished at the end to our satisfaction. The final price came in right at the bid amount. I highly recommend them.

Queen Anne Burgundy Shingle Style House They have painted houses for me each time I have moved - and a rental property. It went excellent; they deliver exactly what they promise; they are wonderful to have around. They are smart and intelligent. They do excellent work and they are fabulous to communicate with. They are reasonable. They are just fantastic. - Nancy K.

Madison Park Modernist Marvel We found Step Up Painting via your listings and have been very pleased. They painted our whole house (exterior), with care and on time. Their workers are courteous and neat. We have recommended them several times and will use them again in the future.

Wallingford Craftsman We got bids from two nearby painters who had several positive reports on Angie's. Step Up was more expensive than the other bid by about $2300, but the other bidder was somewhat flakey in making his bid. Step Up was very professional from the start, submitted a prompt bid, and included an estimate of the man-hours on which it was based. They also seemed more specific on the prep work they would do. Step Up's bid at first seemed high, but it was based on 9 days of work by a crew of 4, which, with other costs, made the bid amount more reasonable. As it turned out, our paint job took more like 10 days, usually with a crew of 5. I think we got our money's worth. The lead on our crew, John, was very communicative, responsive, and easy to deal with. The entire crew was polite, energetic and very hard-working. They are young, but seemed well-trained and knowledgeable, and committed to doing a good job. They were also careful to clean up thoroughly at the end of each day of work. We were most pleased about the amount of careful prep work they did--which was one of the main things we were looking for. They probably spent around half the total time on prep. Our old house had lots of paint layers, and I can't claim that it all now looks like new--since we didn't pay to have it all taken down to bare wood. But I do have confidence that this crew did their best to give us a paint job that will last better than previous paint jobs. There were a number of times they just did extra steps that I hadn't expected--special primer on bits of bare metal, other special primer to glue down any loose paint edges on the cedar shingles. These guys had to work during record-high August weather and also during some days of very unusual August rain. John used on-line weather radar reports to figure out when to squeeze in some productive painting time during the rainy phase to get the job done. Our house was not the easiest to paint. Besides all the issues of old, poorly-maintained wood, they also had to do a lot of work standing on bits of narrow, steep roof that I don't like to be on. I don't think this was an easy job. Hats off to John and his crew, and to the rest of the Step Up folks! - Joel B.

Whittier Heights Sunny Bungalow They were very professional and there was no surprises about the bill. They came on time and left on time. They were tolerant of my dog who came out and barked at them. The actual painting was very well done. - Ruthie N.

Magnolia Cottage with Deck They were very professional and the overall experience was great. The original color that we chose turned out to be too dark (and they had gotten most of they way through painting as I was out of town for a few days, but when I voiced concern they were very accommodating and responsive with helping us getting it fixed. It of course cost a little more to fix the problem but they went out of their way to reschedule their crews to give us a little time to find a new color and then did the best they could to minimize the costs of repainting the already painted surfaces. It would have been nice for them to provide a color consultation, but I realize this is largely a personal perference which is difficult. I'd suggest you check out the paint on day 1 of the job and be sure you want to keep it because it would be easier to change at that time. They were not the cheapest bid we received, but certainly not the most expensive and I think it was worth paying a little more to get their expertise and professionalism.

Ravenna Soothing Sage Cottage In 2008, I received two bids from painters highly rated on Angies List; they were very close. The painters were already quite busy, and said the house could wait another year. Step Up re-bid in spring 2009 -- a modest increase in price. The job was scheduled two-months out, which was a time that worked for me. It took awhile longer than anticipated to complete the job for several reasons: (1) exceptionally hot summer weather; (2) discovery of a paint blistering problem; (3) Step Up's commitment to customer satisfaction. The job foreman was terrific. At least once a day, he solicited our opinions, questions and desires regarding the work. With a few exceptions, we were gone while the painting was being done. The paint crew was friendly. Our yard was kept tidy, with minimal damage to plantings that border the house. We have double-pane windows with weep holes. They were painted over; many, not all, were reopened when the problem was pointed out. - Peter S.

Maple Leaf Warm Green Bungalow I was a little hesitant to go with Step Up because their bid was significantly less than my other bid, and I thought this might indicate a tendency towards sloppiness or cutting corners. They just finished the job today and I couldn't be happier with the work they did. Their professionalism, courtesy, and attention to detail were remarkable. In some areas the quality of the work exceeded my original specifications. Jason, the site foreman, was great to work with and did a super job communicating the crew's progress. Despite some rain the job took as much time as the initial bid had estimated. The new colors matched the old paint very well. I'm not given to effusive praise or firewalled reviews, but I can't think of anything they could have done better. Well, they tended to leave their work van in the driveway overnight...but it was totally worth us parking on the street!       - Tricia T.

Bryant Earthy Green Craftsman It went very well all the way around. The bid was given promptly and was competetive, right in the middle of the bids I received. The crew was thorough, hard working and very pleasant. A couple guys on the crew were highly experienced, were able to really assess the paint problems (and this is important) and did great work. This is a very professional group.  - Denis S.

Capitol Hill Elegant Victorian The team was great and very conscientious.

East Queen Anne Classic Brick Tudor Gary and his team were very professional, punctual and careful. The job involved painting third story dormers on one side of the house that are difficult to reach with conventional ladders. Gary was very creative in his use of a Genie lift to access these areas, saving time and money over the alternative (renting a scaffold). Gary and his painters were also careful to work around the mature plantings surrounding the house. The work in August took a couple days longer than the estimate in April but only because of a delay caused by rain. The crew cleaned up after the work was completed in a thorough and satisfactory manner. Gary and the other painters were dependable, gregarious and easy to work with.

Greenlake Pumpkin Tower! It was an excellent job. A+ work. I was especially impressed with the preparation, the key to a great paint job. The final paint job makes the south side look brand new even though some of the shingles and siding date to the 1920's. The crew worked hard, are very skilled and kept me informed along the way.

Southend Monstrous Deck with Modern Home Attached Excellent. They were on-time, on-budget, professional, and did quality workmanship. They were also flexible and responsive to our schedules. We would recommend them highly, and we will definitely use them again in the future.

East Seattle Raised Ranch "Gary came out in the late spring. But do my delays I wasn't ready to get job done until late summer. The crew that came out was excellent and very easy to discuss issues with. The job got completed on time, cleaned up after themselves, and house looks great!!! Price great; crew great, and work great." - Skip C.

North Redmond Deck and Porch Gary met with me to discuss the scope and timing of the project. He and his assistant showed up exactly when scheduled and completed the project within a timely manner. We added on some additional pressure washing, and repairing and painting a small area of our bathroom ceiling. They were able to accommodate this additional request, which I really appreciated... the quality of the work was very good. - Ilene S.

Fortuna 1960’s Ranch Style I could not be more pleased with the service and quality we received from StepUp Painting. I emailed for a qoute. Gary met me exactly on time. They gave me the best price of the 3 quotes I obtained from different contractors. They provided insurance information and coordinated well. When the weather looked wrong we set up a later start date. They pressure washed the exterior and two days later started working with 4 painters for 7 weekdays. They quickly adapted when we realized the trim color we had given them looked horrible. We picked a new color and they didn't miss a beat. The painters were all great, they were very respectful of the house and our dog. They primed and put on two coats of high quality paint. They gave us daily update phone calls when we weren't around. The house needed new paint for protection and we love the new look. We highly recommend Step Up painting.

“Wedge” area (Bothell) Split Level "They came out and gave a bid and based on the bid as compared to others and the evaluations from Angie's List we chose them to paint our house. They did an excellent job. The house looks great and the workers were very pleasant." - Ron W.

Mays Pond Neo-eclectic >The overall experience was very good and we were very pleased with the results." - David J.

Firdale Split Level Ranch This company was extremely pleasant to deal with, from the first meeting with the estimator through the final completion of the job.
